Heading: Mountain Camp Directors

Camp Owners: Scott & Sally Whipple

Scott started with Mountain Camp in 1993. He directs the marketing, new program development, and the overall administration of the camp. Scott is a graduate of Baylor University and has served as the Western Association of Independent Camps Vice-President and President of the Northern California Section. Additionally, he is an American Camping Association accredited Camp Director. Scott is committed to advancing Mountain Camp's excellent reputation and programs.

Sally began working for Mountain Camp in 1994 as a counselor and activity leader. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University and holds a teaching credential in Biology. Throughout her many years with the Mountain Camp program Sally has taken on a large number of diverse jobs and responsibilities - perhaps her most noble and courageous act occurred in 2003 when Sally married Scott.

Camp Director: Don Whipple

Don first began working for Mountain Camp in 1993 and currently oversees all year-round operations. He is a proud graduate of UCLA and formerly directed Bruin Woods, the UCLA Alumni Family Camp on Lake Arrowhead. Don is currently the incoming President of the Western Association of Independent Camps and has served both locally and nationally on boards for the American Camp Association. Don is often remembered as the "Pride of Pollock Pines" for his celebrated career as an ice dancer, but these days he enjoys spending his free time biking, hiking, skiing and exploring the beautiful Bay Area with his trusty sidekick Bo.

Kamren Johnson

Program Director: Kamren Johnson

Kamren grew up in sunny Southern California, but currently hangs her many hats in Santa Cruz. She came to Mountain Camp as a counselor in 2000 and we just cant seem to get rid of her. Kamren has been a program director since 2002 and currently oversees all of the administrative workings of the camp year round. Unbeknownst to most, Kamren has a wicked arm and is the captain of the Mountain Camp dodgeball team, volleyball team, soccer team, and basketball team. She hasnt lost a game of CAT in 4 years.

Andy Hancock

Program Director: Andy Hancock

Andy joined the Mountain Camp family in 1993. He graduated from Salisbury College with a concentration in Recreation Education, and has been employed by the South Australian Education Department as an aquatics and swimming instructor since 1981. Currently, he is the senior instructor in charge of surfing and body boarding at the Port Noarlunga Primary School and Aquatics center in South Australia.

Toby Lukins

Program Director: Toby Lukins

Toby Lukins started at Moutain Camp in 2001. He graduated from Regency college where his focus was Environmental and Adventure Tourism and Education. Toby spent many years working as a guide before moving to West Lakes Primary School and Aquatics Center where he teaches a wide range of aquatic activities including kayaking, canoeing, surfing and snorkeling. Toby runs many programs at camp including the Ropes Course and Mountain Biking programs.

Drew Price

Program Director: Drew Price

Drew hails from Duluth, Minnesota, the inland most port in the world, and he wont stop talking about it. Drew graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth where he majored in Outdoor Education. He has worked in the outdoors with youth for the past 8 years as a trip leader, counselor, and program director. Drews hobbies include beat boxing, beard growing, and being a dork on purpose.

Dave Brown

Program Director: Dave Brown

Dave first attended Mountain Camp when he was ten years old and would kick and scream like a toddler when he had to leave for the winters. He grew up in the Bay Area and graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Dave received his MSW from Cal in 2007, and worked in public schools as a social worker before joining the Mountain Camp staff as a year round director in 2010. He enjoys playing guitar and mandolin, singing off key, playing sports, being outdoors, and getting teased for his lack of fashion sense.

Dave Brown

Waterfront Director: Adam Ruhland

Adam came to Mountain Camp in 2005, the same year Bratt Pitt broke up with Jennifer Anniston...in case you needed a point of reference. Adam manages the day-to-day programs at the waterfront, though he has a particular interest in the camp's sailing program. During the rest of the year, Adam is an elementary special education teacher in Burlington, Vermont. Adam enjoys skiing, soccer, and non-fiction reading.
