2008 Staff Profiles

Cabin Counselor : Sabrina Littee

Sabrina Littee grew up in the bay area. She currently attends UCSB and is majoring in Biology. Upon graduation, Sabrina plans to attend UCSF and pursue a career in nursing. Sabrina's an avid soccer player and enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, surfing, kayaking, traveling, and going on spontaneous excursions. If she could have one superhuman power she would travel through time. Not only would she appear psychic, but just imagine how much cool stuff she could see!

Cabin Counselor: Adam Ruhland

Gaze eastward and you will find Adam Ruhland nestled in a historic coastal Virginia town. There he is completing his graduate education and searching for a future city to call home (a city from the future, not yet named). He enjoys all that life has to offer including homemade muffins, break dancing, and months ending in 'ber.' His main mode of transportation is a bicycle but thinks he would look cool on a Segway scooter. As a child Adam organized a summer camp for his toys that was coincidently named "Camp Mountain."

Cabin Counselor: Alan Heaton

Alan is from across the pond in the UK. Alan loves to travel and experience
new cultures. He is about to become a mature student at Bangor University
studying a BA degree in Sustainable Development. We will all be thinking of
Alan at the Mt Camp Office, as he prepares to run the Everest Marathon on May 29th to raise money for his cause in Nepal www.starfishpromise.com.
Al is determined to help everyone around him have an enjoyable time during his 4rd summer at Mt Camp. As a child Alan would never be without a football and was forever getting told off for playing indoors, nothing has changed.

Cabin Counselor: Andy Rosenberger

Andy Rosenberger is from Ankeny, Iowa and attends the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. In his freetime he enjoys music (listening to, collecting, talking/thinking/arguing about),
playing/watching basketball, dogs, food (cooking, EATING, learning about), being outdoors (except during frigid Iowa winters) and of course friends and family. As a child his favorite activities were having a basketball near him at all times, as well as fancying himself the guitarist/drummer/singer of a rock band/orchestra/choir.

Cabin Counselor: Alison Wilcox

Alison Wilcox was born in Kentfield, California, where she lived with her parents and younger sister, Holly, until 2004 when they moved to Sausalito. Alison currently attends Washington University in St. Louis (more commonly known as WashU) where she is studying visual art, with hopes of one day illustrating children’s books. She loves to dance and has taken ballet for most of her life. She also loves to hang out with her friends and when the weather is nice to be outside and enjoy the sun. Her favorite child activity would probably be having “sleepovers” with Holly in their tree fort.

Cabin Counselor: Katie Merritt

Katie Merritt grew up in northern Minnesota and is currently studying to be an elementary school teacher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. When she’s not writing papers or designing lesson plans, she loves to travel to new places, read good books, ride her bike on nice days, and cook. As a child, Katie really liked to build enormous snow forts and then try to have sleepovers in them, but it was always too cold to actually sleep.

Cabin Counselor: Shaelyn Dawson

Shaelyn Dawson is from the beautiful bay area and graduated from UC Berkeley in May of this year, with degrees in legal studies and peace and
conflict studies. Her favorite activities are hanging out with friends and family, playing soccer, reading (especially the Harry Potter series) and being in the sun. As a child Shaelyn's favorite activity was sliding down her stairs on a sleeping bag, playing capture the flag, and following her
two older brothers around.

Cabin Counselor: Sally-Anne Young

Sally-Anne Young comes from the land down under (Melbourne, Australia). She has always lived by the beach and enjoys sun, surf and all water activities. Dancing, singing and acting also play an important part in her life. Her vibrant and bubbly personality make her an asset to the corporate entertainment, events and luxury bar industry in which she works. Sally-Anne’s favorite childhood activities were playing dress ups, climbing trees, and making cubby houses and Tepee’s.

Cabin Counselor: Alexandra Ryder

Alexandra Ryder is from the coastal town of Cronulla in Sydney, Australia and has currently graduated university where she studied Health Science (PDHPE) which will eventually enable her to become a physical education teacher. In her spare time, Alexandra loves to go to the beach, see live bands, travel to new and exciting destinations, and to be silly with her friends. Her fondest memories of childhood involve playing sports most days of the week, going to the beach, and having slumber parties with her friends. Not much has changed!

Cabin Counselor: Holly Wilcox

Holly Wilcox is from Sausalito, California, but is currently braving
the cold weather of Ithaca, New York where she attends college at Cornell University. Holly is a psychology major but has many other interests, such as rock climbing, ballet, drawing, snow-related activities (skiing, snowboarding, snowball fights), going on adventures, and being vegan. She has many great childhood memories of building forts and selling lemonade on the street corner with her older sister, and best friend, Alison.

Cabin Counselor: Tim Wood

Tim lives on the south coast of England, with his parents, his younger brother and his three dogs! He has recently finished a BTEC National Diploma in Outdoor Sports & Education and is currently working as a store manager, until he fulfils his lifelong ambition of becoming a Royal Marine Commando later this year. Tim’s hobbies are playing rugby and soccer, rock climbing and he loves working out in the gym. He also follows his favourite soccer team – Liverpool Football Club. As a child Tim liked to go into the forest with his mates and build forts and climb trees.

Cabin Counselor: Christine Abbotts

Christine is from Bristol, which is a city in the South West of England. She’s just finished school and is currently on her gap year working in London. Next year she’s heading north to Durham University to read Law. This year she’s already travelled to Hong Kong and South Africa and can’t wait to add America to her list!She loves drama and tries to go to the theatre as often as possible. She also plays the violin and the cornet (it’s like a mini trumpet!) As a kid she used to love playing in the garden making imaginary potions out of her dad’s prized roses.

Cabin Counselor: Michael Rathmann

Michael Rathmann is from Perth, Western Australia. He studied at Notre Dame University to achieve a bachelor of Secondary Education, enabling him to teah History, English and Geography. He worked at Corpus Chrisit College, before deciding to start travelling the world. His hobbies include Australian Rules Football, cricket, swimming and any outdoor activities. In his childhood, Michael enjoyed spending time at the beach in Perth, kicking a footy and hanging out with friends and family.

Cabin Counselor: Nicola Carey

Nicola Carey is a student teacher from Londonderry, Northern Ireland. She is currently studying Education with Technology & Design at Stranmillis College, Queens University Belfast. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys hanging out with her friends, travelling, playing her guitar as loud as possible, fencing and going bog snorkelling in Co. Donegal! She’s also an avid supporter of the mighty ‘Norn Iron’ international soccer team and insists that they will win the World Cup in 2010!! As a child, she loved building forts out of sofas and blankets with her brother, drawing all over the walls in her house with permanent markers and eating ice cream at the seaside on a hot summer’s day!

Cabin Counselor: Jenny Merritt

Jenny Merritt is originally from Duluth, Minnesota. She recently studied abroad in England. While she was there she lived in a 19th century manor house with 150 rooms for four months. It was almost like living at Hogwarts. When she’s not studying in the United Kingdom she is a Social Work major at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Jenny loves to bike, rock climb, and run in her spare time. When Jenny was little her favorite thing to do was play dress up with her older sister’s clothes.

Cabin Counselor: Denver Pittmann

If Denver could use one word to describe her passion in life, it would definitely be: spontaneity. Growing up, she always enjoyed the atmosphere of her small southern hometown of LaGrange, Georgia; however, knew deep down that her dreams were too big to stay. After spending the past 8 months of her life in Jackson, Wyoming, she is currently a rising junior studying Early Childhood Education at Georgia Southern University. When Denver isn’t busy working in the classroom or planning her next free-spirited move, she enjoys playing soccer, singing, and engaging in anything that keeps her creative juices flowing. If you were to take a retrospective dive into her childhood, you’d more than likely see a shorter, more tomboyish snapshot of Denver giving her award-winning rendition of Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart” to any willing (and sometimes reluctant) audiences at her older brother’s baseball games.

Cabin Counselor: Roz Kirkelie

Roz Kirkelie was raised in Alaska where she studied graphic design at the University of Alaska Anchorage. When her nose isn't in the text books she enjoys a plethora of different activities including; sports (soccer,snowboarding, swimming, running, martial arts), being outdoors, laughing, traveling, photography, art in general, reading & music among many others. As a child she enjoyed playing in the snow, riding bikes, being outside,
running amuck & causing havoc.

Cabin Counselor: Ann Marie Jeanes

Anne-Marie is from Adelaide, South Australia. She is currently working as a waitress at the local hotel however will go to university next year when she has finally decided what she wants to study. Anne-Marie loves to stay fit and enjoys going jogging, on bike rides and to the gym. She also loves to be in the great outdoors and when she can will go camping, bushwalking, rock climbing, kayaking, or surfing (at least trying to!) As a child Anne-Marie loved to laugh and laugh and laugh with her friends about jokes that sometimes she didn’t even understand!

Cabin Counselor: Nathan Vassollo

Sydney, Australia is home to the sports mad Nathan. He often spends his free time kicking a ball around, throwing a footy or down at the local beach with his mate. As a kid Nathan remembers his mother always saying to him " Eat all your vegetables, and you will grow up big and strong." she was right. During the day you will findNathan designing houses for a local firm as an Architectural Draftersperson and at night spending time in his families very own pizza shop. He loves cheese pizza.

Cabin Counselor: Gabbie DeFrancisci

Gabriela (Gabbie) DeFrancisci is from the Roseville area, just graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and will be going to UC San Diego in September to pursue a PhD in Structural Engineering. She loves to sky dive and water ski, is fascinated by concrete, attempts to trick ski and was on the Cal Poly Triathlon Team. As a kid she liked to drive the tractor on her dad's ranch and play with her brother's dump truck toys.

Cabin Counselor: Mark Barnes

Mark is 22 and from Norwich in the UK, he is currently studying Sports Studies at Derby University. He enjoys spending time with his friends and playing sports especially football. His favorite childhood memory was a camping trip with his friends, where they went hiking climbing and quad biking.

Cabin Counselor: Emily Evatt

Emily Evatt grew up in the majestic Adirondack mountains of New York and is planning to attend Albany Law School in the fall, if she can afford it! When Emily isn’t writing book length research papers, she loves to spend time waterskiing, reading, going on adventures, and rocking out to guitar hero! In the winter, Emily is a snowboard instructor and has enjoyed 7 years of teaching children to shred. As a child, Emily enjoyed barefooting, tree climbing, and themed birthday parties, her favorite theme being the Spice Girls!

Cabin Counselor: Jody Peterman

Jody (or "Po" as she is affectionately known) hails from the beautiful state of Minnesota, home to both Post-Its and Prince (who coincidentally shares her birthday). Although Jody is fiercely loyal to her home state, she did spend four years living in the inferior state of Wisconsin obtaining a degree in Psychology at UW Madison. Jody enjoys camping, sailing, road trips, and knitting people hats. Skills include peeling oranges and driving for long hours on end without stopping. Weaknesses include making beds. As a child, Jody really enjoyed making up songs and recording them on a tape recorder. Her biggest hit was called "I Would Take You Home Baby Bunny."

Cabin Counselor: Robin Bundi

Robin comes from the great state of Montana. She is a recent graduate of Ohio University where she received a SFA in Graphic Design and Art History. Although, when she was a child she wanted to be a florist or a cook. Her specialty was mud cake. Robin enjoys hiking, spending time by the lake, cooking and a good cup of coffee.

Cabin Counselor: Anna Harkin

Anna Harkin is from Ankeny, Iowa and is currently studying Elementary Education at the University of Northern Iowa. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and spending time with her friends and family. As a child, Anna enjoyed being a camper at various summer camps. She is looking forward to a great summer at Mountain Camp!

Cabin Counselor: Katie Mooney

Katie is from the small town of Templeton, CA near San Luis Obispo. She just finished her first year at Stanford University where she enjoys singing in her hip-hop, R&B, soul and Motown a cappella group called Everyday People. Katie spent Winter Quarter running for the Stanford Track team and also loves backpacking, rock climbing and white-water rafting. As a kid she loved racing the boys around the track in PE and putting on singing and dancing performances with her two little sisters and little brother: Tricia, Annie and Jack.

Cabin Counselor: Brian France

Brian live's in Harrogate which is a town in the north of England. He has recently got back from doing a ski season working as a ski Technician in France be for he left for France he was an outdoor instructor Teaching climbing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing etc he love's been in the out door's and when he is not working go's off for the day climbing or kayaking. His childhood memory is the first time he got into a kayak at the seaside and the feeling been on the water.

Cabin Counselor: Steph Wells

Steph Wells grew up in Calabasas, CA, but recently traded in the beaches of Southern California for the bright lights of New York City. She currently attends NYU, where she is majoring in Music Business. Steph enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, traveling, playing guitar/bass/drums/piano, going on adventures, and writing songs. As a child, Steph enjoyed flying kites and building sand castles on the beach.

Cabin Counselor: Daniel McDermott

Daniel McDermott is a 9th generation Californian, originally born in Ventura, California. He is currently attending Chico State University as a Senior. His other occupations include work as a Health Aide at the local school district as well as a trip leader at an campus organization called Adventure Outings. Some of his favorite past times are Whitewater Rafting, Duck Hunting, Music, Hiking, History research, Wakeboarding. His favorite childhood activity was playing Drums, Model Railroads and Baseball. Least favorite activity was chores.

Cabin Counselor: Tanner Agron

Tanner Agron is an alumnus of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and currently resides in San Francisco. Tanner loves (in no particular order): Modge Podge, camping, puns, the Bravo network, leggings, grammar, hiking, funny pictures of cats, Scrabble, great thrift store finds, This American Life, Kettle Chips, rock climbing and writing letters. After completing an apprenticeship at the American Conservatory Theater, Tanner has been stage managing in Bay Area theaters as well as doing voice over work on the side. She has taught improv, sketch writing, performance and voice and diction to elementary, high school and collegiate groups. Most importantly, she was a camper at Mountain Camp for many years, and returns as a counselor for her third summer!

Cabin Counselor: Paloma Clohossey

Paloma Clohossey is a Northern California native born in Menlo Park, CA. She just completed her freshman year at the small liberal arts Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she survived the snow but missed the ocean dearly. Finger painting and reading were some of her favorite childhood activities. Her hobbies and loves include any and all things crafty or
creatively-oriented, meeting new people and live music!

Cabin Counselor: Sarah Charley

Sarah Charley grew up in the foothills outside San Francisco and now attends Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She enjoys backpacking, kayaking, traveling, playing the guitar, making movies and a variety of sports. As a child Sarah enjoyed making forts in the living room and pillow fights.

Cabin Counselor: Jonathan Lanham

Jonathan Lanham came from a cow-town in Kentucky called Gravel Switch. During the school year, he works as a Residential Counselor and Zen Master at the Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky. When he was little, he used to spend entire days catching frogs and chasing ducks with his brother on his family farm. Nowadays, he rides bikes, climbs rocks, plays guitar, and reads comic books for fun. One day he hopes to design costumes for the Justice League.

Cabin Counselor: Jennifer Hunt

Jennifer Hunt grew up in Granite Bay, CA. but more recently calls the San Diego area and Jyväskylä, Finland her home! As a student, Jen studies Tourism and Hospitality in Jyväskylä and after 3 years there, she still fumbles the language all over the place. In her spare time (that is, the 15 minutes she has every 5 years) she LOVES to travel, have adventures and meet new and totally awesome people—like you! As a child Jen loved to play with her dogs, swim and ride her neon pink bike! – So not much has changed J

Cabin Counselor: Jeremy Kalmus

Jeremy is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana; in 2005, after
Hurricane Katrina he moved to Ridgewood, New Jersey. Jeremy currently attends the University of Redlands in Southern California and majors in Environmental Studies. He has been running Cross Country and Track since the seventh grade and continues to compete for Redlands. Besides running, Jeremy loves Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Wake-boarding, Ultimate Frisbee, Disk Golf, Croquet, Bocce Ball, and Camping. Basically, he loves to be outside in the California Sun, and not the New Jersey snow. As a kid, Jeremy liked to make documentaries about his cats, and riding bikes with his father.

Cabin Counselor: Cory Kutcher

Cory Kutcher is from Roslyn New York, right outside of New York City. He goes to the University of Maryland and wants to be a physical therapist. In his spare time he likes to play any sport, hike, bike, kayak, whatever it may be. He also loves following the greatest baseball team in the world the New York Mets. As a child he liked to build forts out of legos and pretend to be Michael Jordan while playing basketball.
